Drink The Benefits...

Image
When was the last time you chose a tall glass of H2O over a sweet frizzy drink or a glass of wine? Ummmmmm almost never for me, that is before I did a bit more research on the health benefits of this miracle liquid we call water. We have all heard that we are supposed to drink 8-12 glasses of water a day, but most of us have trouble keeping up with water intake and often fall victim to pops or other sugar drinks which taste better. So what is the 411 with water? Well, water keeps our body hydrated which in turn regulates the bodies temperature, detoxifies, helps with metabolism and also keeps our skin looking youthful and hydrated. I personally notice a huge difference in my skins appearance and texture when I don't keep up with my water intake and to keep me on track I like to add a little twist to my glass of H2O that turns it from blah to yum! I love adding fruit. Frozen fruit works well and acts like  yummy ice cube! Cucumber slices Lemon and lime slices  A few mint...

Pumpkin Seeds Rule!...

Image
It's Fall! My favorite time of year, not only because of the fabulous fall fashions, but because of my guilty pleasure- Pumpkin Seeds!  Since I was a child I loved planning a trip to the local pumpkin patch  with my family and friends in search of  that one special big fat orange pumpkin. Besides having fun carving them and baking with pumpkins, I love baking pumpkin seeds. Many people just toss the seeds away but this year think again. Pumpkin seeds are rich in iron, zinc and omega-3 fatty acids. Sounds good right? Well let me really break it down, Iron is a very important mineral and symptoms of low iron include, tiredness, cracking at corners of the mouth, moth ulcers, sore tongue, poor hair growth, brittle nails. Zinc is needed to prevent symptoms such as, red, greasy skin on your face, poor hair growth, dandruff, brittle nails, white spots on your skin, poor night vision. Omega-3 fatty acids are anti-inflammatory and can help with stiff joints and arthritis, ...

Dirty Brushes? Clean Them!...

Image
Unless you are a makeup artist, you probably have a  just few makeup brushes. Most of us don't wash our brushes daily and over time they can get pretty dirty (which is a great home for bad bacteria, which can lead to pimples and other skin disorders!) A great tip is to keep a spray bottle filled with 99% alcohol in your makeup kit. Spray your brushes with the alcohol and gently rub them in a circular motion onto a piece of paper towel. The alcohol will kill all bacteria and best of all they will dry within a minute or two, so you wont have to wait hours like you normally would after you wash them. After they are dry they are clean and ready to use! This is also a great tip for makeup artists who need to reuse the same brushes on different clients and don't have have the time to wash them! ___________________________________________________________ If you have your own tip on cleaning makeup brushes leave a comment below and share

Who Wants Kissable Lips?...

Image
We all know by now that its important to exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells, environmental debris, makeup, and dirt. Exfoliation helps slush away old dirty skin cells to make room for new healthy cells. Our lips are no exception and need the same care, especially in the approaching fall and winter months. All you need is a toothbrush (soft bristle is best) and some Vaseline. First wet your lips with a bit of water, then apply a small amount of Vaseline to your tooth brush. Starting with your top lip and gently brush your lips in circular motion going around from top lip to bottom lip and back again. Continue brushing until you start to feel your lips becoming smooth. If you notice your lips start to peel gently continue brushing. When your done wipe off the excess Vaseline with a soft face cloth. Now apply your favorite chap stick and lip stick and your lips are kissable soft. ___________________________________________________________
