Makeup Brush Tip...

Image
Here's a quick tip that will help keep your brushes in great shape for years to come! Makeup brushes are 5star hotels for pathogenic bacteria! That's why it's very important to give your brushes a deep clean at least once a week and after every client for professional MUAs. After your brushes have been washed MAKE SURE you re-shape your brushes so that the bristles are not flared out. Basically re-shape them into their original shape you bought them in. Also, when drying your brushes make sure you dry them on a flat surface on their side, off an edge for big fluffy brushes. This will make sure the excess water drips off your brushes and not go down into the Handle or flute of your makeup brushes. If you allow your brushes to dry standing up, over time water will begin to break down the glue that holds your brushes to the handle and even worse the glue that holds the bristles together! Not a good look people, especially if your buying one brush for $45. So make sure you ta...

Spring 2012 Nail Trends...

Image
The spring 2012 nail trends are all about self expression. These colors will take us from neon greens to skin tone nudes, nails should be bold and fun this spring summer 2012!  Many of our favorite cosmetic companies have helped introduce this seasons nail colors by putting together nail polish collections. Zoya's seasonal collection "Beach and Surf" is simply lovely. What I really like about this collection is that there is a mixture of pearly/metallics and creamy versions of similar colors. Zoya will be launching this collection on their website starting April 1st at Zoya.com  for $8.  NARS has launched a bunch of beautifully pigmented limited edition nail colors on their site  NARScosmetics.com  for $18.  These colors are on the bolder side so be sure to step out of your comfort zone and have fun with them. For my reserved dare devils out there looking to pump up ...

MAC Nail Laquer In Play Day...

Image
So I found my summer nail color! MAC Play Day nail lacquer is simply gorgeous! This peachy orange color looks great on all skin tones and is defiantly eye catching. MAC nail lacquers are high gloss formulas, so a top coat is not needed and provide no-streak/no-chip finish. They also contain conditioners and UV protection! Talk about hi-tech lacquer. This color is currently limited edition so it will only be around for a year, so if you love it as much as I do buy 2 bottles (I bought 3 lol :) ) __________________________________________________________________

MAC Face & Body...

Image
The number one question I am asked by new makeup artist is: " What foundations should I add to my freelancing kit?!"  With tones of products on the market we sometimes get caught up in price, hype, and packaging.  If you are shopping for your own personal makeup kit then sure, go ahead and get whatever works for you and looks pretty (shucks I do for my personal kit ) . However, when it comes to your freelance makeup kit these points should not matter. You want foundations that can be used on all skin tones, skin types, and look great in video and pictures. This is why I choose MAC Face & Body . It is a light weight water based face and body foundation made for all skin types and comes in 13 shades. Face & Body comes infused with tons of emollients which will moisturize your skin (great for clients with mature or dehydrated skin) . It has a light natural finish which is great for clients who don't like heavy foundations. For times that I a...

We Heart MAC Matchmaster...

Image
MAC has waved their magic wands and created the smartest foundation yet. MatchMaster is MACs first neutral foundation which was a huge hit for Fall Fashion Week 2011. Gone are the days of guessing if you are a NC ( neutral cool ) or NW ( neutral warm ) and then having to take the time to find the right shade. MatchMaster comes in 14 shades from light for our porcelain dolls to dark for our chocolate dolls. After you choose the shade closest to your skin tone and apply this creamy foundation it will naturally adapt to your skins undertone and leave a flawless finish. MatchMaster is great choice for people with highly yellow (cool) undertones and those with highly pink (warm) undertones, because the neutral base will help neutralize the appearance of these high undertones. The texture of this foundation is very creamy and smooth. For those with oily skin it might be a good idea to apply some mattifier to your skin before application.  __________________________...

Then take a pencil brush (MAC 219) and bring that color from your outer lash line to your inner lower lash line. Step 3: Blend out the purple eye shadow with a big fluffy brush like the MAC 224. With   the same brush add Magenta Madness to the outer edges of the purple and blend well.  Step 4: Add Silver Dusk to the inner corners and blend into the shadow.  Step 5:...
